Image 1: The trick with this shot was to have the model’s attitude stand out from all of the gold. Her attitude had to be the focus point of the shot, not the background. Arms up with angles to frame her face was the best way to accomplish this. She obviously did a great job.
Image 2: The theme of this shoot was “waiting” but I needed the model’s face to be pointed at me for the connection. She is obviously a beautiful model and it is a beautifully contrived setting but without her knee up and leg crossed the image wouldn’t have had much energy or meaning. And the cock of her head added some softness to her pose to keep her from looking stiff.
Image 3: This is obviously an ad for coffee beans. It was very important for the model to look relaxed and comfortable while at the same time sexy but classy. The hand to her face and the slight tilt of her head gave her a feel of innocence.
Image 4: This is a concept shot I obviously did and required a gentleness and lightness to the models pose. She pulled it off perfectly with the whisper effect of her finger and the lightness of her right hand. I also loved how she squinted her eyes ever so softly. That was a nice touch.
Image 5: I needed a mystical effect here and the model’s ability to flex was spot on. The reaching up was necessary to give a feeling of energy. Obviously not every model can pull this off.
Image 6: A fantasy shot which required the model to portray wind. She is really playing the part of a ships statue as if sailing in open seas. The eyes squinting reflect the wind and the open arms reflect the freedom of flight. She did this perfectly.
Image 7: How do you look exquisite and classy covered with sprinkles and icing? By being elegant and beautiful. By staring straight ahead, eyes open without a hint of being uncomfortable or showing any laughter, you can pull this off. And she did.
Image 8: This was a mythical concept that we added a twist of fashion to. Again the use of arms and angles to highlight the face and show form with the body are critical. The slight tilt of her upper body, away from the sun was important to frame the whole shot. The model added the open hand which was a nice touch as it kept the light on her hair. One of my favorite shots.
Image 9: Here is an example of underselling and just letting your natural beauty take over. Obviously this isn’t a full body shot so angles aren’t important. What is important is being regal, being confident and having good posture. The strength of this shot comes from her ability to do all three of these things
