As a photographer it is your job to capture your client or model’s best features. When working with an experienced model it is easier as they most likely know how to pose in a way that flatters themselves. Clients usually do not. That is where it is up to you know the poses that work best with different body shapes. So here are a few quick tips of does and don’t for different heights and sizes!
- Photography tall people from below will make them appear taller..same for someone shorter..so for taller subject shoot looking down not up
- If someone is fuller or has wider hips you may not want to shoot them straight on…have them turn to the side slightly
- Three Quarter shots are good for heavier people
- Hide belly bulge with props or by having your subject lay on their belly
- Straight and tall stretches the body remember the thinnest person will have rolls if bent in certain poses be mindful of that will all sizes
- When dealing with a clients height pay attention to the things in the scene that may make them appear shorter or taller
- Use distance to your advantage..your distance from your subject can give the illusion of bigger..shorter..taller..thinner
- Chin up- even thin people can have a double or loose chin..keeping the head up will help eliminate that
