Image 1. I love this shot! Check out how David mimicked the environment with the pose. Notice the bend in the arm and the placement of the head. Head placement is a very important aspect in posing.
Image 2. Check out the S-curve, notice how the models body curves it is contrasting to the environment. Of course contrasting is the opposite of mimicking, but notice how it makes the subject stand out. Also notice the arm placement, they lead your eyes through the entire photo.
Image 3. In this pose the model has her hips pushed far to one side, she is using her hand to push her hips. Notice the positioning of her feet one is on the street the other is resting on the curb. Notice how the head is tilted, the top pointing towards the outer part of the hip and the chin facing the inner. You can almost draw a straight line from her chin down her leg.
Image 4. Oley’ this makes me think of a pose of a bull fighter holding up a cape. One arm pressed to her hip, and the other raised to the sky. Notice the models body is straight, no curves in the hips, this mimics the straight lines in the background.
Image 5. Not the hips pushed to the side, and the arms out straight, the arms are not angled, but this pose really makes me think of “Balance”. Also note that her fingers are spread a part and there is separation in them.
Image 6. A relaxed sitting pose that is turned sexy. Knees together feet apart.
Image 7. Note how the arms mimic the texture in the background., not only the arms but the fingers as well.
Image 8. Arms out palms up, raising them into the air. Kind of like a “LAAAA” moment. Notice the eyes are closed and the head is tilted back just slightly.
Image 9. This whole photo has an alien feel to it. Note how the lens flare seems to lead you right to the subject. Lens flare can be really cool, or it can be really bad, in this case its really cool.
Image 10. This is one of those funky fashion poses, note how straight her arms are out from her shoulders. Then the arms bend towards the viewer, notice the slight head turn, just enough so it is not straight.
Image 11. Same pose image 8 just taken from a different angle.
Image 12. Check out the S-curve note how the chin is in line with the hip. Note the bend in the arm, a sharp angle complimenting the curve of her hips.
Image 13. Notice the placement of the head, be careful not to let the head get lost in the background.
Image 14. Look how the pose mimics the shadows.
Image 15. Pose in motion! Look at the lines in the frame of the photo, note the tilt of the head.
Image 16. Running fingers through the hair can be great for a nice relaxed pose.
Image 17. Pose in motion. Sometimes just having your subject through her head back and run their fingers through their hair can be a great moment.
Image 18. I like this because you don’t see it often, but yet it is a pose that just makes me feel like the model is just hanging out and is either nervous or scared. I remember holding my arm like this when I was a kid.
Image 19. Check out this sitting pose. I like this one because of the leading lines, what a great way to draw the viewer to the subject.
Image 20. This is pretty funky, this whole scene is wild if you ask me. Look at the shadow the pose has a come hither look, notice how you can see the bend of both arms, you can use shadows to help with that.

Tremendous tips – thanks!
